Take a moment. And enjoy that moment. It all started with a stroll through the forest, inspired by someone with a deep knowledge of the incredible fauna that surrounds us. That simple walk made me realize just how lucky we are to live in a place like Creuse—where every day feels like a little gift of peace and joy.
But even in this tranquil haven, where nature seems to move at its own rhythm, life has a way of sneaking in with its demands. Bills, relationships, deadlines—these things can easily pull us out of the present and stop us from taking a moment to just breathe and enjoy.
At Distillerie Le Compas, we're all about crafting the very best gin, so when we had that realization of “Take a moment and enjoy that moment,” we couldn’t help but think: Why not make it the inspiration for our 2025 concept gin?
But even more so this idea led us to a fun thought: How do other people around us take a moment to enjoy life through their own passions? And so, our little discovery adventure began!
We teamed up with Rob Kuik from Auberge Chambonchard and set off to La Grange Gourmand, near Pionsat. There, we met Lio and Sanne—two amazing individuals who are juggling parenthood, home renovations, and life in general, yet still found time to build something extraordinary: their very own mushroom farm.
For most, this would be a full day’s work, but not for Lio and Sanne. With a genuine passion for learning and a drive to do things right, they’ve created something truly special—a farm that produces a variety of delicious mushrooms.
The visit was nothing short of fantastic. Lio led us through the mushroom-growing process, explaining every step with enthusiasm and detail. But, of course, the best part was tasting them! And we were lucky enough to have Rob, our very own chef from Auberge Chambonchard, cook up a batch of these fresh mushrooms right there in the field. What a moment! A simple, beautiful time to be grateful for.
As we sat outside, enjoying the fruits of our adventure and laughing together, it hit me—how powerful it is when three passionate people come together over something they love. That moment, shared over mushrooms, became a perfect example of what it means to truly take a moment and enjoy that moment.
Now, as our 2025 concept gin rests in its beautiful acacia wooden barrels, we're more inspired than ever to seek out more moments like this. We want to discover even more amazing people and places, each with their own passions and stories, to find out what makes them stop, breathe, and enjoy the moment.
So, if you’re looking for a little inspiration, a fresh perspective, or just want to meet two wonderful people, We encourage you to get in touch with La Grange Gourmand and say hello to Lio and Sanne. Who knows? You might just discover your own new passion—and a few more moments to enjoy!
